Maddy the Munkin-

It is Saturday night and Clint and I just got home from our second official date night. Thanks to Auntie Heidi and Grandma NiNi, we were able to go and enjoy some Johnny Carino's. I took a risk and ate spaghetti sauce (gasp) and we are hoping for an easy night. Trial and error is the only way to know what I can eat without disturbing her young digestive track. Her aunt Heidi is the one that coined the nickname "Munkin" since Cailin is the "Punkin." While Heidi and I were getting our picture taken by Jeanine today, Heidi looks down at Maddy (she had JUST been given Mylicon) and asks me, "What color is Mylicon?" I quickly responed, "Pink" and Heidi said, "Good, then she is not bleeding from the mouth." It was quite humorous......as things tend to be when Heidi is around.
Maddy has had a nice visit and has been on her best behavior...unlike Grandma Nini's last visit. She had her first mall trip today and all went well. Clint gave her a bottle half way through our adventure and we managed to get home just before both of my breasts caught on fire, from not having been released in way too many hours. I am not sure who was happier she got hungry right on time:)
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I will post again during the week sometime, as we have lots of little outings planned.

One Month and Counting

It is 8:30 on Tuesday night and Clint is watching House with Maddy hanging out on his chest (smart girl) and I have an oppotunity to do some things, uninterrupted. It is SO nice. Today was her one month well check and she is doing great. She weighs 8 lbs and is 21 1/4 inches long. She is in healthy percentiles for everything and got a clean bill of health. We are trying to figure out if she is in fact battling only dyschazia or if she also has a little bit of reflux as well. I will be tracking her behavior after feedings for a week or so and report back to the pediatrician. It was suggested to try her in a pouch on my stomach to see if that helps with her digestion challenges but she is not the biggest fan of that thing. I am still trying to master the sling option without feeling like she is going to either suffocate or tumble out onto the ground, so our hands free options are limited. Hence the reason I am loving this uninterrupted time.
Clint and I can't believe it has already been over a month since she came into our lives. She really is such a blessing to us and although our lifestyle has taken on a whole new style and meaning, we absolutely could not imagine life without her. Having a child truly does introduce a level of love that is unexplainable.
Maddy is getting very excited to have her second visit from grandma Jeanine and her first visit from her aunt Heidi. I am just hoping that she is in a little better spirits this time than she was when grandma visited the last time.
We hope everyone has a great week. I will be updating again soon. Until then, enjoy the photos above.

A Monumental Moment.....for Mom

This is a picture of Madison asleep in her CRIB!!!! I am proud to say that in an attempt to clean the house tday, while Clint was mowing and washing cars, I decided to see how long Maddy could make it in her crib. Well.....apparently I should have been questioning how long I could leave her in there. I laid her down at 9:30 and she stayed there listening to her music, looking at the animals around her, frequently losing her pacifier...that she has grown to enjoy and I am not afraid to admit it....and she stayed there until 11:45; she got hungry! I went out to tell Clint how well she was doing and he was more proud of me than her...rightfully so :) I did manage to clean the house and pile all the clutter onto the futon so I can sort through it this week, so it was a success.
Yesterday Clint and I went out to dinner for the first time WITH Maddy and she did okay. That business about being young enough still to sleep through dinner......NOT TRUE! She did okay but she seemed more interested in getting as much attention as possible so everyone could comment on how cute she is, even while screaming. Once she got to Uncle Skip and Aunt Sheri's house, she didn't make a peep. Probably because she knew noone would hear her over the roars of the Gator fans! She did manage to sleep 6 straight hours again last night (Clint and I are convinced it was from all the crying at dinner), so I am a happy mom!
I hope you all have a great week. I will update after her doctor's appointment on Tuesday and let you know how we are BOTH doing after her shots.
