Mirror Mirror on the Wall......

Happy Saturday to everyone! I read somewhere that infants as young as two weeks enjoy looking at themselves in mirrors, so I found one of Maddy's million toys and hung it on her bassinet, only to find that there is some truth to that mirror concept. She was completely mesmerized by the caterpillar and mirror; which gave me time to get some stuff around the house done. I never thought I would be so grateful to have a vein daughter:) As each day passes, she becomes more alert and we have found that mirrors, swinging and walks are things that Maddy finds great joy in...so we present her with those opportunities as often as possible. We went for a walk yesterday and had one of Florida's famous bouts of liquid sunshine....although I covered her as best as possible with the seat canopies, there were parts of her that got a little wet and she awas completely unphased; she is meant to be a Florida baby.
We hope everyone has a great weekend. I will continue to post pictures and updates as time permits. In the meantime, Maddy sends her love to everyone she hasn't met yet!

My friend...Mylicon

Happy Thursday to everyone. I can't believe that Maddy has been with us for almost 2 weeks already. As exhausting and anxiety filled parenthood can be, it is the most rewarding thing a person can do. My mom leaves tomorrow, leaving Clint and I on our own. Fortunately Clint has a very passive nature to parenting and eases my new mom nerves quite easily. He comes home from work and just falls right into the role of daddy without missing a beat. We have continued to have lots of visitors, which is great because we love to show Maddy off...of course. She is a great baby, especially now that I have discovered MYLICON!!!!! It is the best thing ever invented for a baby with gas! It minimizes her discomfort, which minimizes my discomfort, because that little cry of hers is heartwrenching.
The picture above is her just after our morning walk. She loves to go for walks with her canine sister, Cailin....and Cailin thinks it's pretty cool too.
Tonight is a big night...My mom and Aunt Getta are going to watch Maddy while Clint and I go out for our first "date night" since the little one arrived. We will not go far, and we will only be gone for a couple of hours, because Maddy will be ready to eat, but it will be NICE!!! Not bad....two weeks old and already a babysitter:)
I have changed the setting on the blog so you should be able to leave comments now, without being a blog member. Give it a try so I can fix it if it is still a problem. We would love to hear how you all are doing and what you think of this beautiful little girl.

Eating and Growing

Yesterday was a big day. My mom got here to help out for the week, since I STILL can't drive, and we took Maddy to the pediatrician for a weight check. She managed to gain 11 oz. in 7 days. She now weights 6lbs. 4 oz. SO.....if there is ANY question about what I am doing with my time, that should answer all questions:) She is constantly attached and it is paying off. I wouldn't change it for the world!
She put on quite a show for her "Memaw" last night....she was up until 2:45am, battling infant gas pains. It is a feeling of complete helplessness but she eventually got through it.....and now she is sleeping like a rock.
We are going to get a picture of all of us together while my mom is here, so that will be up soon. In the meantime, here is a picture of her hanging out in her carseat after our daily morning walk.
